AUGUST 2019 SUMMER UPDATE
Dear Families and Friends,
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer, and I just wanted to make you aware of some important developments since the end of school.
I want to make sure that everyone knows that Kristen Elliott was officially appointed as principal of Woodstock Middle School and that Sarah Hull has been selected as Woodstock’s Teacher of the year. Both Kristen and Sarah make Woodstock a better place because of their positive attitudes and their love for both students and our community.
We also have had several new hires: Bethany Scafidi has decided to return to WES and will be in Kindergarten, along with Stephanie Grant, who did such an amazing job filling in as a long term substitute. We are very excited to have Lori Paolini from the Willington Public Schools joining the 2nd grade team. We are also fortunate to have Amanda Zopfi joining us as the WES School Psychologist.
At WMS we have Peter Larson, a biology major from UCONN, joining the 5th grade team and Sarah Rutkowski will be coming over from the Bristol Public Schools to join us in 6th grade. Both Peter and Sarah will only help strengthen our already strong middle school staff. I am also excited to announce that Mrs. Jocye Gresh will be returning to WMS as our new, part time, assistant principal.
Robert Alden is the newest addition to our custodial staff and will be working evenings at the middle school. In addition to cleaning and waxing we are doing quite a bit of painting at both schools, gym renovations at WES, drainage work at WES, masonry repair at both schools along with installing AC in the WMS music room.
We still have a couple more positions to fill and I will update you as soon as things are finalized. Meanwhile, keep enjoying your summer, there is plenty of it left, and have fun recharging your batteries.
