Woodstock Education Foundation News

The Woodstock Education Foundation is a non-profit volunteer organization established by a group of like-minded parents in 2005. The organization’s goal is to bring financial resources to our K-8 public schools to broaden the sphere of learning for Woodstock students. The WEF does this by building partnerships with the administration and other organizations to provide resources to enrich the K-8 experience for our children. Over the past five years, the WEF has provided over $50,000 in funding to Woodstock teachers and administrators.

For the 2012/2013 school year, WEF funding supported a number of important educational initiatives. This support included the CT Historical Society: Three Branches of Government, History Detectives: Exploring the Native American Life, The CT Historical Society: Native Americans and Colonial Kids, Riverside Reptiles and Amphibians, and the Summer Enrichment Program.   WEF support makes a huge difference in the educational experience of Woodstock Elementary School students.

The WEF raises money through several mechanisms including  selling a series of Holiday Ornaments, our Paver Walkway Initiative at WES and WMS, a back-pack flyer appeal, an annual appeal letter, hosting the Starlight Gala and Auction, and sponsoring a WMS after-school youth night and dance.   As a parent or guardian of an elementary school student, we invite your advocacy and any financial support you can provide for the good work we do.  Collectively, parents can make a substantive difference in our children’s education.
